From what i understand this works like a zombie apocalypse.
Computer is taken over then takes over others until someone has like 8. Then master zombie flicks the switch then all the zombies attack the target.
It's a DDoS. Check it out on Wikwpedia.
Most poeple attacking have no idea what they're doing. However there's a windows patch going on right now. It's going to be allright.

How about you "duck". I know nothing about ip and those things but i figured a whole lot of zombies are tossing exactly -there-. CCP sidesteps and a whole lot of zombies run headfirst into a wall only to get up and try again.
Might not work but at least it's funny.

I could think of something better yet.
Catch a zombie disect it. Patch it back together. Zombie gets up and runs home... Along with every zombie it meets...

About the whole credit card thing.
CC companies have protocols for that kind of thing right? Something like account sharing? Checking the locations used and the distance and time between them?

These people, in my own opinion, have a God syndrome. They do those things because they can. They might actually fool themselves into beliving they're "testing the security" or something like twisted that.

You could be in the corp and inactive for 6 month. I would not ban a whole corp.

I didn't say a whole corp, just the people who are dumb enough to be seriously trying to claim responsibility for the attack.
to do it legally... which part of the EULER covers flapping mouth off on forum claiming to have caused DDoS attack?
Illegal activities. Ban pending investigation.

Well considering how fast it was resolved i don't think it actually matters that much in terms of compensation. They might do something symbolic just to underline the event though. However the server beeing back up already kinna limits the options. Some kind of random "trash" as a reminder to all active accounts perhaps?

Edited by: Jormungandr Bastanold on 15/06/2011 01:41:02 Well. I need to make sure my credit card info is not kept on file at any given time.
(...) Ponders those possibilities...

You would not belive how hard it is to remove all your credit card information. It is just not possible in some cases and in others there is no password recovery avaliable to even try.

Heh... Odds are, if you get that "error" your computer was a zombie going for CCP brains...
Do your windows update and try again later.

Everyone had better get to scanning and making sure there computers are clean so the group haven't got any bots to control...... until then, the group has ammo they can use
I don't know about scrubbing. Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware only pick up old stuff and most of the time the resident shield would have picked up anything in their database. Personnally my money is on the 110mb windows update i got shortly after that whole attack thing.

Originally by: Isaac ValMazmar I can ping and trace-route to SISI just fine but TQ is blocked... CCP must be blocking traffic in that direction specifically. Eastern US here.
That would mean as long as you live in the middle of nowhere you can connect? Heavliy compromised hops would have been cut leaving only the smaller less relevant ones.

What i'm refering to is an event causing multiple networking companies to simultaniously reroute their things. I'm guessing that had to be quite a few and that there was a structure in place to that effect.
